French Subjunctive Practice Cards - Il faut que This set of 50 study cards is meant to help students practice and master forming the French present subjunctive. Each card provides a sentence with a blank where the verb should be. The verb to use is written in the infinitive form at the top of each card. 25 cards begin with Il faut que, and 25 begin with Il ne faut pas que. Students practice using regular and irregular verbs in the subjunctive, and the English translations provided on the answer key will be most helpful as they come across new vocabulary and ways of saying things. None of the English translations begin with It is necessary that, because that isn’t the best way to say these sentences in English. The player must give clues, but he can’t use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the passé composé using avoir as helping verb. If you wanted to practice writing in the passé composé you could have your students do that. All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent. Est-ce que tu as déjà…? Have you ever...? This French speaking activity is great for getting French 2 and 3 students to speak and practice their vocabulary when learning about RESTAURANTS. Students will also review the passé composé using AVOIR as helping verb when doing this activity. Your students will enjoy getting up and moving around the classroom as they ask their classmates questions that are listed on the grid. See full instructions for this resource below. This resource includes: One grid to print out and make one copy for each student in your class. There are sixteen squares on the grid. Each square contains one question and a space to write a classmate’s name. Instructions: Have your students move around the room asking classmates the questions that are written in the squares on the grid that you provide. If a classmate responds with OUI he or she writes his name on the line provided. Complete sentences are encouraged even when the answer is NON. Activity continues until all boxes are filled. When the holidays come around there's nothing else on everyone's mind, but it's a great time to incorporate French Christmas vocabulary into using SI CLAUSES! This is a set of 20 SI CLAUSE task cards that can be used at any level since you can have your students create 1st, 2nd or 3rd conditional SI CLAUSES. As you see in the previews above, the infinitives to be used on each task card are in infinitive form. You can either instruct students to use a particular type of SI CLAUSE or you can just leave them to use their imagination. The first part of the SI CLAUSE is provided to inspire creativity on the second part. French Christmas vocabulary is used in this set of task cards and images are provided in case some of the vocabulary is new. French 20 questions games - Small group or whole class no prep activities The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in these 5 versions of the game, students will learn over 250 nouns that go beyond what they learn from a textbook chapter theme or every day classroom vocabulary. Included: 5 versions with vocabulary written in French and English 5 versions with vocabulary written in French only Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity. Each version includes 52 words. Many of the words will be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. French regular ER verbs game - Quel Dommage! While teaching your students regular ER verbs in the present tense, they will have a great time practicing with this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is a review game in which the sentences are written with the infinitive form of verbs in parentheses. Students have to restate them using correct conjugations in the present tense. An answer key is provided so that students can check their work as they play. You could easily modify the game to be played in the passé composé or other tenses. Detailed instructions are included so that even when you need to have a sub, your students can practice regular ER verbs. All you have to do is print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you'll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Put all of the game pieces in a box and divide your students into small teams. Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key. Students must replace the verb in parentheses with the present tense conjugation and say the sentence correctly. When they are correct, they get to keep their game card.
